Today, dear reader, you will get acquainted with such cities of Uzbekistan as Khiva, Karshi, Bukhara and Samarkand.

Samarkand

In particular, when speaking about Samarkand, one should emphasize its greatness, the energy of the inhabitants, which make this city one of the most delightful places on the planet. An unforgettable first stop, which in itself already justifies the journey through Uzbekistan: the Bibi-khanim mosque, the Siab bazaar, where the first acquaintance with the heart of Asia takes place. During walks among well-groomed rows with fruits and vegetables, persistent smells of cumin, saffron, hot bread, honey sweets or freshly cooked food are beckoning.

Madrassahs with majolica of the Registan complex are called an example of the magnificence achieved by the dynasty of the Temurids, whose vision of greatness turned Samarkand into one of the pearls of the East on the Great Silk Road.

Bukhara

Bukhara also amazes tourists with its magnificent state of sights and well-preserved traditions. In the shadow of the impressive fortress Ark are the streets with beautiful covered bazaars, hat workshops. Passing through one of the numerous hammams and going to the Lyabi-Hauz square, built in the 17th century, one can meet young people, as well as those who are resting in the cool near a large pond, drink tea under the centuries-old mulberry trees; feel peace in the distance from the noise of roads.

In the opinion of many, Khiva is the most special of the ancient cities of Uzbekistan. Almost all the caravans passing along the route to China and back, stayed in this city. From morning till evening, through the open fortress gates of Khiva, streams of loaded camel carts moved endlessly.

Khiva

Everyone knows such cities as Bukhara, Samarkand and Khiva. But not many people know about the city of Karshi, which is the center of the Kashkadarya region of Uzbekistan. Although the latest archaeological excavations have proved that the city of Karshi was founded 2700 years ago, in October 2006, the 2700th anniversary of the city was celebrated. According to historical data, in 1364 Amir Timur built a fortified palace in the southern part of the modern city. Since then, the city became known as Karshi (in Turkic «fortress», «fortification»).

The historical sights of Karshi, in addition to the ancient settlement of Erkurgan, include Odina Madrassah (16th century), which was the only female educational institution in the region, the mosque of Kuk Gumbaz (XVI), Bekmir (XVI), Kilichboy, Khoja Kurban, Magzon and Charmgar (XIX–XX), a brick bridge across the Kashkadarya (XVI) and Sardoba (XVI).

Sardoba

Sardoba are huge reservoisr, laid out from a specially prepared burnt brick and buried in the ground for two thirds. They are designed for collection and storage of water. A dome made of bricks protects the accumulated water from sand and dust, and prevents the evaporation of moisture under the hot rays of the sun.

From Karshi one can make trips to the western or south-western parts of the region, where steppes pass into deserts. Hundreds of wells are scattered all over the Karshi steppe. In many steppe wells, the water is brackish; numerous flocks of sheep grazing in the steppe are watered by it. The deepest well with a depth of 97 meters, is located in the village of Pamuk, on the border of the Karshi steppe.

Uzbekistan is a truly paradisiacal place, whose inhabitants consider their country a gift of the Holy.

Without hesitation, visit Uzbekistan for new impressions and a cheerful mood!
